It is not possible to have your puppy at your side all day and all night. Even though they sleep a lot, there are times when you need to do stuff in another room. You might need to work from home like I do or you just might have to tidy up your office because your wife keeps telling you it needs doing!

Keep an Eye on Your Puppy Remotely

The easiest way to be able to see your puppy from another room or anywhere else is by using a webcam. There are many different types to chose from and only a few of them really specify they are for pets. Most say baby monitor or WiFi security camera but the one we recommend does actually mention pets.

Our friends have French Bulldogs and they recommended this camera on Amazon. We have found it to be extremely well priced at under £20 as well as feature packed which I will go through next.

Useful Features

Lets start with the 1080P resolution.

1080P resolution - this should be the minimum you will want to aim for. It gives a much clearer picture especially on small screens like mobile phone screens as they have an app you can use to connect to the camera and watch from anywhere in the world.

Night Vision - Spike lives in the kitchen/living room, well that's where we have setup his bed and his playpen. We leave on our LED lights that are built in under our kitchen cupboards so that there is enough light to see if he wants to get up and play. This feature is really good as you can clearly see what he is doing at night in low light situations.

Two way audio - we use this feature a lot as it allows you to talk to you pet even though you are not there. It also allows you to listen to your pet too. We do get some odd looks and a bit of head tilting as he can hear you but not see you however he does interact.

Motion Detection - we don't use this but we did try it out. Whilst not overly loud, as we have him confined to his playpen he can't really travel great distances so we have turned this off as the camera is aimed directly at his playpen.

When he is older and we trust him not to eat all the furniture this will be helpful to follow him as he walks around the flat.

Overall we are really happy with this product. It does everything we need it to and more that we will use later. The price is very good and it was delivered within a few days of ordering which is typical of Amazon Prime.
